On Saturday, Feb. 22, shortly after 9:30 a.m. local time, the 13-year-old reportedly lost control of his skis before hitting a tree while on a red slope — for intermediate and advanced skiers — in the Lagazuoi area of the Dolomites, per local outletCorriere del Veneto.

According to theEugene Police Department, the crash occurred at the River Road and Beacon Drive intersection in Eugene on Saturday, Dec. 7, when a Toyota Corolla with five teen occupants collided with a Chevy Suburban. The driver of the Suburban, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, remained on the scene and is cooperating, police said.
