College Student, 20, Reportedly Dies After Taking Part in Off-Campus Fraternity Ritual: ‘Unimaginable Loss’

Wilson, from New Orleans, had reportedly been taking part in a ritual with members of Omega Psi Phi at North Sherwood Forest Community Park, Fox-affiliated stationWVUEreported citing Baton Rouge Police. Sources told officers that those participating in the event had been standing in a line as part of the initiation process when Wilson reportedly collapsed, per the station.

Solomon Martinez, 27, was found guilty of first-degree murder, tampering with a deceased human body, and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of 47-year-old Renee Portillos, whose remains were found near a creek in Pueblo in January 2024, the Pueblo County 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday, March 13.

Colorado Snowmobile Rider Rescued After Getting 'Fully Buried' by Avalanche — See the Video

TheSummit County Rescue Group(SCRG) said it responded to the avalanche “in the Shrine Bowl vicinity of Vail Pass Recreation Area” just after 12 p.m. local time on Monday, Feb. 17. According to a news release from the rescue group, two men were caught in the slide, one of whom was buried in snow. The man who was not buried “called 9-1-1 and immediately attempted to locate his friend.” A rescuer spotted the corner of the rider’s deployed avalanche airbag “sticking out of the snow” while they walked across the debris field, according to an accident report from theColorado Avalanche Information Center(CAIC).
