The Palisades and Eatonwildfires— which devastated neighborhoods across Los Angeles County, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Pasadena and Altadena — have officially been contained.
On Friday, Jan. 31, the California Department of Forestry Protection (CAL FIRE) confirmed that the two fires, which both began on Jan. 7 after a Santa Ana wind event, have each been 100% after weeks battling from firefighters.

Cult folk musician and painter Ed Askew has died. He was 84 years old.
PEOPLE can confirm that Askew had been battling “ongoing health struggles” and he had been in hospice care. However, no cause of death was revealed.
“Ed was a brave gay songwriter from the beginning and I hope more come to know this,” Jay Pluck — Askew’s manager/friend — said in a statement to PEOPLE.

Ed Sheeranis celebrating a history-making moment in his career.
The “Bad Habits” singer, 33, revealed that he just became the first international music artist to perform a concert in Bhutan. On Saturday, Jan. 25, Sheeran shared avideoon Instagram featuring highlights of his time in the South Asian country as he reflected on the milestone.
“Had the honour to be the first ever international artist to play Bhutan last night,” he wrote in the caption, referring to his Jan.
