The Linn County Sheriff’s Department said in apress releaseTuesday, Jan. 28 that aerial drone footage allowed them to find “two missing children who had not been seen for several hours.”
Officers were dispatched to the Lake Chaparral community at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27.
When deputies arrived, they quickly discovered they needed more resources and called the Linn County Fire Department for additional assistance locating the kids.

Without hesitation Holdren, then working as a middle school social studies teacher and assistant football coach, texted the ninth grader — whom he’d spent the past two years driving home each evening after practice — with a simple message.
“Hey, I know you got a lot going on,” he wrote, “but if you ever need it, you’re always welcome to come stay with me.

Medical oncologist Ravi Salgia was watching news coverage of the fires with his wife Deborah and their adult daughter Sabrina on Tuesday night when Deborah noticed a red amber outside. She went into their Pasadena backyard to investigate. Around 6:30 p.m. she told her husband “There’s fire right above us.”
The family was not expecting it.
“She really saved us," says Salgia, chair of medical oncology at the renowned cancer centerCity of Hope.

One month after moving into her dorm room at James Madison University in August 2024, Chloe Potes received an unexpected visit from her mother, Kristene. Sitting in a hotel room with her father, Ryan, on the phone, she learned that he had just been diagnosed with stage 2multiple myeloma, a cancer of plasma cells.
“Finding out this news was and still is the most heart-wrenching thing,” Potes, who is a first-year justice studies major, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
