12-Year-Old Girl Vanished on the Way to Birthday Party in Texas, Police Say

A 12-year-old girl has disappeared after she was heading to a birthday party in Texas, according to authorities.

According to a missing persons flyer shared on its Facebook page, theIrving Police Departmentsaid Alison Ramirez-Lopez was last seen on Sunday, Feb. 9, at the 1000 block of Harlan Street.

At the time of the initial announcement, the Irving Police said it was activating an AMBER (ATHENA) alert over Alison’s disappearance. But in an update posted early Monday morning, Feb. 10, police said that because the girl may be in another state, she does not meet the requirements for the alert.

Those with information about Alison’s whereabouts are encouraged to call 911 or the Irving Police Department at 972-273-1010.

TheATHENA Alert went into effect in 2023 in Texas, allowing authorities to request activation of the AMBER Alert system even if the criteria have not been corroborated. It was named in honor of Athena Strand, 7, who waskidnapped and murderedin Wise County, Texas, in 2022.
