A teenager has died after the car he was traveling in crashed into a sewage plant.
The body of the 18-year-old boy was found “a few yards away” from a Volkswagen Golf discovered “partly submerged” at the water treatment facility in Castleford, England, on Sunday, Jan. 12, West Yorkshire Police stated in arelease.
A man and a woman, both aged 21, were also found inside the vehicle and were transported to the hospital for further treatment, the statement added.

“At 6.19 a.m. (Sunday), police received a report of a vehicle with persons inside which had left Wheldon Road and gone into a ditch,” police said in the release. “Emergency services attended the location and found that the vehicle, a white Volkswagen Golf, had entered a water treatment facility and was partly submerged in a pit of water.”
The water treatment facility has been identified as the Wheldale Sewage Works, according to U.K. newspapersThe TelegraphandMetro.
