2024 was undeniably a year of natural beauty looks, from lived-in hair colors to “clean” makeup aesthetics. And while fresh-faced glam isn’t going anywhere, the experts are predicting a return to bolder beauty looks, including majorhair transformations, statement makeup moments and so much more.

From “old-money blonde” to the return of lowlights, 2024 was all about low-maintenance hair colors. While natural hues aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, celebrity colorist and Redken ambassadorLaurie Heapspredicts that dimensional, higher-upkeep shades will be highly requested next year.

“In 2025, I think we’ll see a mix of natural shades and higher-maintenance colors like Sabrina [Carpenter]’s gorgeous blonde making a comeback,” says the colorist, whose clients include the ‘Taste’ singer, Miranda Cosgrove and Rowan Blanchard.

Beyond Carpenter’s golden blonde, Heaps predicts we’ll see a rise in rich, warm tones like soft coppers (see:Lindsay Lohan’sred-blonde strands) and caramel brunettes (look no further thanJennifer Lopez’sgorgeous brown hue).

“These shades add depth and warmth, making them perfect for the colder months,” Heaps explains.

One-Statement Makeup

Though fresh-faced beauty looks will continue to shine on the red carpet in 2025, celebrity makeup artist andCiele CosmeticsCEONikki DeRoestpredictsa resurgence of color just when we need it most (looking at you, January).

“I believe the essence of natural beauty will absolutely continue into 2025, but with a fresh twist: adding a single, bold statement to a naturally radiant base,” she says. “Picture a glowing, dewy canvas paired with one standout feature — whether it’s a bold lip, a graphic eye, or a flushed cheek.”

The beauty in the “one statement” approach is that it’s completely customizable. “[It] highlights the personality of the wearer, making it easy to experiment with colors or shapes while letting the natural beauty of the skin still shine through,” adds the makeup artist, who works with stars like Grace Van Patten andKate Bosworth, among others.

Satin Skin

From glass skin to “clean” skin, the past few years have been all about complexions so dewy, they border on wet. And while we’re not quite putting away our serums and sheet masks just yet,Alicia Lindner, co-CEO of German skincare brandAnnemarie Börlind, predicts that the new year will usher in a more balanced approach that combines the best of dewy and matte finishes: satin skin.

“Satin skin combines the best of both worlds: a natural, healthy glow without excessive shine,” she explains.

Phoebe Dynevor’s lit-from-within look at the 2024 Met Gala is a prime example of skin that glows in all the right places with no excess shine in sight.

Long Lengths

While the new year usually has us itching to head to the salon for a chop, we may hold off a bit after seeingDemi Moore’s waist-skimming strands. The actress’ long locks made for a head-turning accessory throughout herThe Substancepress tour, and though healthy, long locks have never gone out of style, celebrity hairstylist andBalmain HairambassadorGonn Kinoshitapredicts that Rapunzel-like styles will be a major trend in 2025.

Celebs likeAnya Taylor-JoyandCiarahave been committed fans of the look, whileKylie JennerandRihannaare among the stars who more recently debuted longer strands. No matter how long you go, Kinoshita — who works with stars likeNicole ScherzingerandEmma Roberts— recommends letting the length speak for itself in terms of styling. “I think we’ll see more effortless, relaxed textures in hairstyles, a bit undone with more natural movement,” she says.

Maximalist Eyes

Yet another color-friendly trend on the horizon, DeRoest predicts that 2025 will be a year of captivating eye looks.

“Eyes are becoming the primary canvas for creativity with graphic liners, bold shadows, and even embellishments, while lips take on a more natural, subdued look,” she says.

For further inspiration, look to one of Megan Thee Stallion’sdazzling smokey eyelooks, or any of Julia Fox’s show-stoppingshadow moments.

Soft Bobs

New year, fresh chop. For those who aren’t committing to longer lengths, 2025 will be all about the bob — albeit a shorter, softer version of 2024’strending blunt cut.

“The bob has staying power, especially with people opting for variations like the ‘soft bob,’ with subtle layers and movement,” says Kinoshita.

At the October premiere ofArcaneseason 2,Hailee Steinfeldstepped out in one of our favorite iterations of the soft bob trend. Unlike a blunt bob, the actress’ flippy, layered cut maintains the fullness and volume of a longer ‘do, but with a chic-sweeping length.

“These cuts are versatile, offering a low-maintenance but polished look that works for a wide range of face shapes,” Kinoshita adds. The look already countsKendall JennerandSimone Bilesas fans, among others.

Elevated ‘Skinimalism’

2025 is all about quality over quantity, particularly when it comes to beauty.

Both DeRoest and Lindner predict that “skin minimalism” will continue to be a focus next year. However, instead of just cutting down the number of products in your routine, the experts suggest opting for highly effective options with multiple benefits.

“Minimalism in skincare and makeup will continue as a major trend, but with multitasking products that blend skincare and makeup, letting the natural skin shine through while offering treatment benefits,” says DeRoest.

On the red carpet, the trend will manifest in simple yet stunning glam moments likeZoë Kravitz’s Paris Fashion Week look. With the rest of her makeup kept minimal, the actress' ethereal skin is even more striking.
