The popularRyan Murphyseries will be getting the spinoff treatment, and this time, the first responders will be in Nashville,Deadlinereported on Thursday, Feb. 20. ABC ordered9-1-1: Nashville, straight-to-series, meaning the show will skip the pilot phase and instead go into production for the first season.

Bob Rains, executive director of the Tennessee Entertainment Commission, told theNashville Tennessean, the team was “very excited” having the series in Nashville. “They really felt like Nashville was the right place to have the next one after Austin. We’ve been extremely supportive with them in conversations and working with our partners at the Visitors and Convention Corp. and the mayor’s office.”

Rains said he’s “under the impression from initial conversations” that active principal photography will begin this May.

“Tim Minear and I are working on a new spinoff that we’re actually writing, and that we hope to get on the air next fall,” Murphy toldVarietyin October. “Sadly, we all loveLone Star, but the financials just didn’t work. It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. And we had a long run of it."

However, afterLone Starpremiered in 2020, a second spinoff was discussed, and several locations were considered — including Las Vegas and Hawaii, per aDeadlineOctober 2024 report. Eventually, the series shifted to the South.Deadlinereported that Nashville was the front-runner because of a proposed tax credit the production was offered.

The plot and casting of the new series have not been revealed. But9-1-1: Lone Starfollows the work and personal lives of a team of first responders.

Meanwhile, the original series is in its eighth season and stars Bassett,Peter Krause,Oliver Stark,Jennifer Love Hewitt,Ryan Guzman,Aisha Hinds,Kenneth Choiand Gavin McHugh.
