Alix Earle Reveals the Unconventional Gift She Asked Boyfriend Braxton Berrios to Give Her for Valentine's Day

It’s a pass on chocolates and flowers.

In a new episode ofHot Mess, host Alix Earle revealed the untraditional gift she wanted her boyfriend Braxton Berrios to gift her for theirsecond Valentine’s Day together.

“I really wanna foster a dog for Valentine’s Day,” the podcaster, 24, says, recalling what she told the NFL player of her plans for Feb. 14.

“And he said, ‘What?'” she jokingly recalls of Berrios, 29.

“It’ll be adopted,” Earle said, though Berrios had hesitations. “What if she or he doesn’t get adopted?” he questioned.

“That’s not an option,” the content creator told the football player. “We’re gonna post this dog every day. We’re gonna give it the best life for a week. It’s obviously gonna find a home.”

The podcast host came up with a solution. “If it doesn’t get adopted, the dog’s coming to Aspen with me… and it’s staying,” she told Berrios.

Earle then brought up a “concern” of her own, which is becoming too attached to the dog and wanting to keep it regardless. “I know that’s going to happen,” Berrios said.

The athlete, too, expressed his desire for a pup himself. “I want a dog so bad. I would do anything. It’s just my life mixed with your life does not set the best foundation,” he explained, alluding to their respectively busy schedules.

“If I didn’t travel every other day, I would have 45 dogs right now,” Earle said.

“So he gets no excuses this time because for Valentine’s Day, we’re going to go to the dog shelter and I’m going to bring them all toys because when we brought them for Christmas they were so happy,” she added. “Then, we’ll find a buddy to take home with us.”

Since adopting the dog will be their main Valentine’s Day plan, the couple still has no intention of going on a dinner date. However, they are going to go out the night before so they don’t leave the dog home alone.

“I’m so excited,” said Earle. “It’s going to be a lot of fun,” added Berrios.

The couple have been together since at least July 2023 when they made their red carpet debut at theESPY Awards.

However, it wasn’t until November 2023 that Earle publicly confirmed her relationship with Berrios after months of claiming that they weren’t an official couple. Shecalled him her boyfriendfor the very first time during aCall Her Daddylivepodcast in Chicago.

Most recently, the couple appeared in New Orleans during Super Bowl week. While speaking with PEOPLE at Radio Row,Berrios teased the future of their relationshipas he noted that many of his close friends are tying the knot.

Though he didn’t say anything about a possible engagement, he did confirm that things are “feeling great” in their relationship. “It’s been incredible,” he adds of their relationship, noting that they really drew closer as he went throughhis season-ending knee injurylast year.

“Truthfully, with the knee injury, it could’ve gone one of two ways and it brought us a lot closer,” he notes. “We obviously support each other and I think it means a little bit more when somebody supports you when you need them. This was the time [for that] and the first time in our relationship where I felt like I truly needed [her support] for an extended period of time. She showed up for me then and continues to [today].”
