All About Christian Slater's 4 Kids

Christian Slater is a doting dad of four.

TheUnfrostedstar and his wife, Brittany Lopez, share two children: a daughter, born in 2019, and a son, whoarrived in July 2024. Slater is also dad to son Jaden, 25, and daughter Eliana, 23, whom he shares with ex-wifeRyan Haddon.

Through the years, Slater has opened up about life as a dad, previously noting that “having kids is a phenomenal eye-opener” and even inspired him to get his GED.

In August 2024, Slater told PEOPLE that he’s “a lot more present” as a dad at this stage of his life.

“I think I was more scared of it the first go around and a little bit more confused, and I was very distracted," he said. “And now, it’s all I really think about, and all I really care about, and all I want to be around. I’m happy to be in that situation.”

Slater toldFox News Digitalthat it was “the hardest thing” for him to leave home and his family to filmDexter: Original Sinwhen the show premiered in December 2020.

“Back in the 90s, it was like all I could wish for was just to be somewhere else all the time,” he said. “Now I really like to be home.”

Jaden Christopher, 25

Slater welcomed his first child, son Jaden, with his then-wife Ryan Haddon in 1999. Since then, he’s been very candid about fatherhood and what it has taught him.

In a 2008 interview withToday, Slater said that “getting to have somegreat adventures with my kidsis the best.” He added, “It’s the best possible remedy for anything.” For instance, he took Jaden to a Los Angeles Dodgers game on his birthday.

Slater kept the birthday fun going whencelebrating Jaden’s special day in 2010at the Toyota Grand Prix practice day in Long Beach, Calif. While the actor was zipping along the track, his then 11-year-old son filmed the action from the stands.

Fun aside, Slater has also prioritized his kids' education. While he has talked about their influence on his own academic pursuits, including getting his GED, the actor has emphasized the importance of learning to his children, too.

“Lately, I’ve been reading theNancy Drewbooks to my kids. I just do what I can to encourage them to be little readers,” Slater toldParadein 2009. “We started going through three chapters ofNancy Drewevery night, and they’re so into it. It’s about the idea of cliffhangers in the stories, which is keeping them engaged. Their enthusiasm has really kind of got me very excited about it.”

While Slater’s son was photographed alongside him at premieres and other public events as a kid, little information has been made public about Jaden’s happenings as he’s gotten older.

Eliana Sophia, 23

Slater welcomed his second child, daughter Eliana, with Haddon in 2001. Like her big brother Jaden, she grew up in the public eye alongside the actor and was photographed at premieres and events as a kid.

In contrast to Jaden, theHeathersactor hasshared various updates on Elianaas she’s gotten older. In June 2020, Slater spoke with PEOPLE about spending family time together in quarantine amid the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that Eliana was just “two days away from graduating high school.”

The proud dad said they were celebrating the milestone in part with a Zoom party and T-shirts he ordered that say, “Quarantine Graduate of 2020.” Slater went on to praise his daughter, who was the newly minted middle child at the time following the birth of his third child.

“I’m proud of her and her being ready to take on life and have some of her own independent adventures now,” he added.

Slater married Brittany Lopezin 2013 and they welcomed their first child together, a daughter, in August 2019. They haven’t made their little one’s name public.

In June 2020, Slater told PEOPLE that he was enjoying all the sweet moments a newborn brings to the family once more, noting that “getting to see my daughter start crawling” was one of his favorite sights to witness.

He added that some of his favorite activities with his daughter included “blow(ing) her kisses,” “toss(ing) her up in the air” and “tak(ing) her swimming,” as well as their morning ritual of feeding her and taking her for a “walk in a BABYBJÖRN.”

Slater called his daughter “a real passionate, excitable person” when talking to PEOPLE in August 2024.

“I mean, she skateboards, she ice skates, she climbs rock walls, she does aerobics, she plays tennis and she’s 5. We can’t stop her,” he said. “She just has a real zest and passion for life that’s very infectious and makes me very excited.”

“He’s only five months, but somehow my wife only hears him calling ‘Daddy’ at 5:30 in the morning,” he said. “I’m like, ‘OK.’ But you get up, you go in there, you see him, and he’s just the best, and he’s just smiling and funny.”
