Amy Adams Says There Were 'Years I Didn't Wear Makeup' in Public at Her Daughter's Request (Exclusive)

Amy Adamsturns up the glam on the red carpet, but out of the spotlight she takes a low-key approach.In this week’s issue of PEOPLE, the actress, 50, remembers her 14-year-old daughterAvianarequesting that she keep it natural. “She didn’t like me wearing makeup,” Adams recalls.She continues: “She’s like, ‘I just want you to look like Mom, not like Amy Adams.’ And I was like, ‘You got it.’ So there were years where I didn’t wear makeup wherever we went. I mean, I sneaked some mascara,” she chuckles. “But yeah, I wouldn’t wear makeup because she wanted me to be just mom.“More recently, her “funny” teen has offered a few pointers on her typical mom uniform.“I’m usually the least manicured at my household,” theNightbitchstar says. “But lately, per my daughter’s request, I’m working on an upgrade. She’s like, ‘You can’t wear workout clothes if you’re not working out, Mom,” she says with a laugh. She was like, ‘Mom, you do this all the time. You got this!’ She was supporting me, it was so sweet.”During a Friday, Dec. 6 appearance onLive with Kelly and Mark, Adams added that she’s “not sure” if her teen daughter will follow in her acting footsteps.“If it feeds her soul and she loves it, I’m here for it,” she said. “But so far, she has no interest.”
