Amy Poehler Makes Rare Comment About Fun Date Night with Boyfriend Joel Lovell at 2025 Oscars

Amy PoehlerandJoel Lovellhad an exciting place to go for their date night this weekend!

“I had the trifecta tonight, which never happens,” she explained, before giving a nod toTimothée Chalamet’sSAG Awards acceptance speechearlier this month. “I’m just gonna say, I liked how I looked, which never happens — you know what, I want to be one of the greatest!”

“I want to be the Michael Jordan of this party,” she declared, completing her list of the three things that went well: “I liked how I looked, I had fun with my date and my feet don’t hurt.”

She went on to reveal that she isn’t exactly the life of the party at industry events, admitting, “I cannot wait to leave.”

“I cannot wait to get in there so I can do a lap and leave,” she laughed.

The comedian also opened up about her hot take on award shows as awards season comes to an end. In her opinion, events like the Oscars should be taken lightheartedly.

“I do think award shows are kind of funny and they should be silly, and people take them very seriously,” she shared. “It’s a big night for a lot of people. I understand they work very hard. I do like it when people work hard. But I think when people goof around, it’s fun.”

PEOPLEconfirmed Poehler’s relationshipwith Lovell in October 2024 after a source said they began dating over the summer.  Lovell was previously a deputy editor atThe New York Times Magazine,but left the position in 2014 and made the transition into podcasting. He currently works as executive editor at Pineapple Street Studios.

Her new relationship comes nearly ten years after Poehler and her ex-husbandWill Arnettdivorced in 2016 after 13 years of marriage. They sharesonsArchie, 16, and Abel, 14.
