Cara Delevingneand her two older sisters, Chloe and Poppy Delevingne, were destined for the spotlight.

Though Cara is several years younger than her sisters, their bond is unmistakable.

“I saw my sisters as the epitome of the woman I wanted to be,” Cara told theSydney Morning Heraldin 2022. “There is no doubt in my mind that my sisters would be my best friends even if we weren’t related.”

“Everyone hassomething they go throughwith their family,” Cara shared withHarper’s Bazaar U.K.in 2022. “My life I feel was very stressful, because there was quite a lot of chaos, not being sure if people were okay or not.”

From growing up in a noble family to starting a prosecco business together, here’s everything to know about Cara Delevingne’s sisters.

Their family has noble ties

The Delevingne sisters' maternal grandmother, Jane Sheffield, was a lady-in-waiting toPrincess Margaretand married to publisher Sir Jocelyn Stevens, once the owner of theHarper’s BazaarprecursorQueenmagazine. Charles is the grandson of politician Hamar Greenwood, 1st Viscount Greenwood.

“I was aware that we were privileged growing up,” Chloe told theSydney Morning Heraldin 2022. “But we never took it for granted."

“We grew up in a beautiful house and were always outdoors and barefoot, climbing trees,” Poppy told theSydney Morning Herald. “We have two very funny, unconventional parents who taught us to be who we wanted to be.”

Chloe and Poppy are “Irish twins”

Chloe and Poppy’s 11-month age gap makes them “Irish twins,” a term for biological siblings who are born less than 12 months apart.

“My elder sister, Chloe, has always felt more like a twin,” Poppy told theSydney Morning Herald. “We’d have epic fallouts, then epic make-ups, when we were teenagers.”

Because they were closer in age, Chloe and Poppy were naturally closer to each other than they were with Cara when they were children.

“We’d get Cara involved but I didn’t spend much time with her growing up because of the age gap,” Chloe added. “You don’t have in-depth conversations with a 6-year-old when you’re 14.”

Before the sisters broke into the modeling industry, Poppy may have spearheaded Cara’s interest in fashion.

With their six-year age difference at play, Poppy wasn’t “overly excited about the idea of having a little sister,” though that shifted after she realized how much fun it was to have a younger sibling.

“She was like a doll, my doll really. I’d dress her up, cuddle her and play with her,” Poppy told theSydney Morning Herald. “I fell head over heels in love with her.”

Cara’s sisters supported her in navigating her queer identity

Cara publicly came out as pansexual in 2020 after previously being out as queer and has since described her sexuality as a “pendulum swinging,” as she shared on the podcastReign with Josh Smithin 2021. As the only openly queer sibling in her family, Cara said she sometimes felt lonely, even as Chloe and Poppy tried their best to be there for their youngest sister.

“Growing up as a queer child was isolating and hard to navigate at times,” Cara told theSydney Morning Herald. “My sisters did their best to be there for me, but it was something I had to go through myself to truly know who I was.”

They have a half-brother

While Chloe, Poppy and Cara share the same parents, they also have an older half-brother, Alexander Jaffe, from their father’s previous relationship.

Alexander’s birthday falls on Aug. 12, meaning he shares the special date with his youngest sister Cara. “Happy Bday @caradelevingne love sharing a bday lil sis!” he wrote onInstagramin 2016.

While Alexander isn’t in the spotlight as often as his sisters, he is frequently present for important events. In 2014, he attended Poppy’s wedding to James Cook, and in 2016, he became godfather to Chloe’s daughter, Juno, according to hisInstagram.

Poppy is also a model

“Modeling was a scary world,” Poppy told theSydney Morning Herald. “I didn’t get jobs for ages. I remember my dad saying, ‘Persevere, darling — it will happen.’ ”

Poppy went on to walk runways and work with brands like Laura Ashley and Burberry beforeMarc Jacobsmade her the face of Louis Vuitton’s pre-spring/summer 2012 collection, perBritish Vogue.

While Poppy and Cara have both worked in the modeling industry, they were never competing with one another. “Cara’s career was very different — she did one or two castings and that was it,” Poppy said. “It has never been competitive between us. I think the six-year age gap saved us, as we’ve never been pitted against each other.”

Chloe has a degree in biomedical science

While her sisters were walking runways and appearing in magazines, Chloe was busy studying biomedical science and tumor biology at University College London. Her academic background led her to co-found the Lady Garden Foundation, a charity that raises awareness and funding for gynecological health, according toits website.

Chloe has also been training to be a midwife in Aylesbury.

“It’s hard but good and very rewarding. They really throw you in at the deep end pretty early on. I’ve not done a delivery yet, but have been very involved doing observations on soon-to-be mums,” she toldCotswold Lifein July 2023. “It’s intense but amazing — I think if you can help any woman when she is at her most vulnerable to have the birth she wants then there’s a lot gained.”

The sisters share a prosecco brand

The Delevingne sisters launched their vegan prosecco brand, Della Vite, in 2020. They chose to venture into prosecco production due to their shared love for the wine, a known “ritual” of their sisterhood.

“We’ve talked about starting a business together for a long time, but wanted it to be something meaningful to all three of us, that represented us as sisters,” Cara toldWine Enthusiast.

“We wanted to launch a brand that makes people think differently about the prosecco category,” said Chloe. “A lot of the available prosecco isn’t great quality … so we wanted to help share those and the story of prosecco with the rest of the world.”

The sisters told the outlet that Della Vite represented a trait from each of them: Chloe’s “dry sense of humor,” Poppy’s “bubbly personality” and Cara’s “no rules, no rigor” character.

“We want this brand to be for everyone,” Chloe added. “We want it to be inclusive and people who drink Della Vite to feel like they are part of our sisterhood.”
