Christina is on the phone with her opponents in the house flipping showdown, her first husbandTarek El Moussaand his wifeHeatherwhen she breaks the news.

“Have you picked the judge yet?” asks Heather, 37.

Seemingly holding back a laugh, Christina responds her pick: “My second ex-husband…Anthony Anstead,"

Heather exclaims, “What?” as Tarek, 43, throws his hands in the air, adding, “Oh my god.”

The scene then cuts to a short preview of Anstead, 45, in his role as judge, and he appears to show both teams some tough love.

Christina fires back, “Like?”

“The paint is missing in the corner there. That isn’t finished correctly,” he starts, pointing out the issues.

Later, at the El Moussas' flip house, Anstead tells Heather he strongly disagrees with one of her design choices: “At no point in human existence should anybody put wallpaper on the ceilings," he says.

The preview then ends on a cliffhanger as Anstead, who iscurrently starring in his own home renovation show in the U.K., prepares to deliver his verdict to both teams.

“I came in thinking this was about the design, the execution. But actually, this isn’t about houses at all,” Anstead says.

Tarek whispers to his wife, “What’s going on right now?” and Christina gives him some side eye just as the scene cuts off.

Ahead ofThe Flip Off’s Jan. 29 series premiere, Tarek and Heather revealed to PEOPLE in an exclusive interview that theywere in complete shockwhen they found out theChristina on the Coaststar had enlisted another ex-husband to be on the show.

They explained how the situation especially caught them off guard because they had no clue Christina and Anstead were even on speaking terms following their bitter divorce in 2020.

“All of a sudden they’re besties,” Tarek recalled of his reaction to seeing Anstead and Christina interact on set. Heather added that it “really threw us off” because they were under the impression that Christina and Ant “weren’t talking.”

She explained how watching Christina and Anstead’s reconciliation “unfold in front of our eyes” was a whirlwind experience.

Referring to Tarek, Christina chimed in, “I feel like some of [the judges] that I picked were just to mess with him. It worked.”

Fans first got a hint that Anstead might be joining the show when Christinajoked about her second husband replacing her estranged third husband Josh Hallon the series after his abrupt exit. Josh was initially set to be Christina’s teammate on the competition show before he filed for divorce in July 2024.

Christina and Anstead were thenspotted filming togetherin November 2024, and a source told PEOPLE at the time: “Ant is going to appear on the show, but he won’t be Christina’s partner.”

Their unexpected reconciliation came after the pair, whowed in December 2018, went through a difficult divorce. They announced they wereseparating in September 2020and finalized their divorce in June 2021.

While the pair were previously involved in aheated custody battleover their 5-year-old son Hudson, they have since made amends. Christina toldBackgridin August that Hudson “deserves to have us get along.”

Christina is now datingbusinessman Christopher Larocca, and Anstead has been in a nearly four-relationship with Oscar-winning actressRenée Zellweger.
