In 1994, Brown Woolley married Kody Brown, becoming his third wife, after her sister wives Meri and Janelle. The TLC show launched in 2010, and Brown Woolley saw the spotlight as an opportunity to demystify their lifestyle and illuminate all that she loved about it: an always-busy house, the chatter and the great devotion between family members.

However, filmingSister Wivesbrought out a “darker truth” — which drove her to leave her church, Mormonism and her husband.

Brown Woolley split from Kody in November 2021. In August 2022, she told PEOPLE about her new perspective on romantic relationships, and that “polygamy is not for me anymore.”

“I want a partnership,” she said. “I want a guy who actually loves me [and] wants to be with me intimately.”

In February 2023, Brown Woolley confirmed her relationship withDavid Woolley, and after getting engaged two months later, the pair wed in October that year.
