Cynthia Erivo 'Really' Wants to PlayX-Men's Storm: 'We Haven't Uncovered How Grand She Is' Yet

Cynthia Erivohas her sights set on another high-flying role.

“I know it sounds frivolous, but I think we haven’t uncovered how grand she is, and all of that inner turmoil she has,” added Erivo. “So I think there’s a world in which we could do something with that.”

Storm is weather-controlling mutant who dates back to comics in the 1970s and was famously portrayed onscreen Berry, now 58. TheAcademy Awardwinner most recently donned the cape and pale-white wig in 2014’sX-Men: Days of Future Past.

In July 2020,Janelle Monáeexpressed interest in the role of Storm during an interview withEmpiremagazine, revealing, “I definitely have thrown it out there.”

“One of my dreamshas always been to play Storm,” said Monáe, 39, at the time. “I don’t know if she comes inBlack Panther, but it would be a dream to have her in it. I don’t know where they are with that.”

“A lot of women have played Storm and they’ve done an exceptional job,” added Monáe, “and I would love to be in that line of artists and get to do Storm justice.”

Janelle Monae Wants to Play Storm in Upcoming X-Men Movie

“Oh my goodness, why is everyoneasking me this? You’re insane!” joked the actress and pop star, 31, toAccess Hollywood, when asked whether she’d ever be open to playing the icon in a biopic. “You’re insane, you’re insane, you’re insane. You’re insane. I love you.”

The question came after the interviewer told Grande she was “channeling a little” of Hepburn in her recent event fashion, to which she replied, “I’ve always loved old-Hollywood glamour — like,Marilyn [Monroe]and Audrey have always been my references.”

Speaking withEntertainment Tonight, Grande said about potentially playing Hepburn, “That would have to be done so well and so perfectly. … I don’t know,” adding when the reporter insisted she had the chops to pull it off, “That’s very kind.”
