“I worked in the very office the film is set in and a co-worker was always recounting her many adventures of online dating and the various apps and strange encounters she had,” Kane tells PEOPLE of the new movie. “It sounded exhausting but I wrote down a note on my phone ‘Internet Dating App Horror??’ and a few months later it led to a full idea for the film.”

“I think people will relate to the alienation of dating and I think people often find themselves in sudden relationships that are empty or soul sucking as a way to escape the loneliness of modern dating and the fear of being alone,” Hunt tells PEOPLE.
