A bride almost got sick herself when one of her wedding guests vomited “all over” her.

“[Still] today I feel disgusting,” she wrote.

She explained that she had only met her sister-in-law’s boyfriend, who was her plus-one to the wedding, a handful of times before, and didn’t know that he had issues with alcohol. This was a problem because the intimate wedding had an open bar.

While the ceremony “was beautiful,” things got ugly — and smelly — during reception.

“We had a blast on the dance floor and I see [him] swaying back and forth coming in my direction,” the bride recalled. “Then he literally stormed toward me.”

Her sister-in-law’s boyfriend “babbled drunkenly that he wanted to dance with the bride.” But before he could even begin dancing with the poster, he began throwing up.

“[He] puked all over me,” the bride wrote. “Thankfully I was quick enough to put my dress aside, so it was mostly saved. But my shoes were totally ruined. Even my pantyhose and my legs were disgustingly puked all over.”

She continued: “I felt nauseous and had to leave before I would have to puke myself. The unpleasant smell and the vomit on my legs was too much for me.”

The bride “immediately went to the bathroom,” with a few of her friends following to help her wash off her legs and salvage her wedding dress.

“The pantyhose and bridal shoes were ruined completely,” she recounted. “I continued the wedding barefoot with a little bit wet wedding dress.”

Afterward, the bride went back into the reception with positive attitude, “trying not to ruin” the remainder of the wedding. But the groom didn’t let the situation go as easily.

The groom and his brother dragged the puking wedding guest outside, and began “arguing and screaming” at him. The bride intervened and asked her brother-in-law to fetch the guest a cab home.

“My husband was really angry so I tried my best to smooth out the situation,” the poster explained.

The bride tried her best “to be extra happy to improve the mood.” It seemed to work because the rest of the night was a hit, with the celebration lasting until 5 a.m.

But partying barefoot for hours left the bride with lasting pain.

“After sleeping like a log I only could feel pain,” she said. “My feet were bleeding and I had a lot of blisters. Couldn’t walk properly for one week.”

The bride’s sister-in-law profusely apologized on behalf of her boyfriend because he didn’t have the “courage” to apologize himself. Despite the bride’s objections, her sister-in-law went on to marry the man. The two eventually got divorced.

“[She] knew he was an alcoholic but still 1) brought him to an event with a lot of alcohol 2) didn’t try to stop him from getting hammered or remove him when she saw where this was going 3) didn’t warn anyone or ask for help to keep him sober,” one Redditor commented.

Other users argued that “barf happens” when you have a late-night party with an open bar.

“Whose wedding goes all night?” someone else questioned. “Nothing good can happen from that.”
