Ella Stiller to Make Off-Broadway Debut inBefore This New Year(Exclusive)

Ella Stillerhas booked her first big Off-Broadway role.

Also new to the cast is Arjun Biju (An Adaptation of That King of the Hill Episode Where Peggy Falls Out of a Plane), Obie Award winner Pete Simpson (Gatz) and Melanie Nicholls-King (The Wire).

The play follows former high school track star Alison Bennett (Walfall), who returns home for the holidays after her first semester of college and reconnects with her former teammate Haley (Carey). As old feelings resurface, the two confront the choices that ended their running careers and reshaped their lives.

Performances begin March 19 and run through May 11 at The Duke on 42nd Street in New York City. Opening night is set for April 4.

Ella comes from a famous line of actors. Her parents are Emmy winner Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, and her grandparents are the late Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, who together performed as a part of the 1960s comedy team Stiller and Meara.

In June, Ella graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School with a BFA in acting.

“I couldn’t be happier to be done or prouder to have survived or more grateful to my family for the unwavering support that got me there and through,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, joking, “I have a degree in playing pretend!!! Yay!!!”

Acting is something Ella has always wanted to do, Ben said during a 2019 appearance onThe Ellen DeGeneres Show.

“She loves it and she’s very passionate about it and she knows what she wants to do,“he said. “I knew when I was 10 or 11 years old that I wanted to direct movies and eventually act too. It’s a crazy business … and I just want to support her in it in any way possible, legally.”

She found that support especially while working onEscape atDannemora, which Ben said at the 2019 Golden Globes was “my favorite partof the whole part of the process.”

“He would rewind and show me all the little tricks,” Ella said.
