Elon Muskhas welcomed 14 children over 20 years.

The Tesla founder first became a father in 2002 when his ex-wife, Canadian authorJustine Wilson, welcomed their son Nevada Alexander, who tragically died at 10 weeks old. The two went on to have five more children: twins Vivian and Griffin and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian.

After divorcing Wilson in 2008 following seven years of marriage, Musk married anddivorced actress Talulah Riley twice, though they never had children together. In 2020, two years after Musk and singerGrimeswere first linked, the two announced they welcomed their first child, X Æ A-12, together.

The pair thenwelcomeddaughter Arcadia in February 2024. Later that year, a source told PEOPLE that Musk and Grimes werelooking for a home in Bel Airwhere they could live with all of his children and their mothers.

During a May 2023 interview withThe Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council, Musk spoke about his children’s futures. He shared that he hasno plans to “automatically” give his children shares of his companies"if they have no interest or inclination or ability to manage" his empire.

Here’s everything to know about Elon Musk’s 14 children: Nevada, Vivian, Griffin, Kai, Saxon, Damian, X Æ A-12, Exa, Strider, Azure, Techno, Arcadia, Seldon Lycurgus and his child with St. Clair.

Nevada Alexander

Musk welcomed his son, Nevada Alexander, with his first wife, Justine Wilson in 2002. Sadly, at 10 weeks old, he passed away from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

“Nevada went down for a nap, placed on his back as always, and stopped breathing,” Wilson wrote in a 2010 essay forMarie Claire. “By the time the paramedics resuscitated him, he had been deprived of oxygen for so long that he was brain-dead.”

She continued, “He spent three days on life support in a hospital in Orange County before we made the decision to take him off it. I held him in my arms when he died.”

In herMarie Claireessay, Wilson detailed the couple’s journey to expand their family further.

The petition was eventuallygranted in Juneof that same year.

“It’s full-on communism . . . and a general sentiment that if you’re rich, you’re evil,” said the Tesla CEO. “It [the relationship] may change, but I have very good relationships with all the others [children]. Can’t win them all.”

In July 2024, after Musk said he was “tricked” into allowing Vivian to undergo gender-affirming medical treatments and stated that his “son is dead,” Vivian responded onThreads.

“This entire thing is completely made up and there’s a reason for this. He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn’t there, and in the little time that he was I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness,” she wrote.

During an interview with NBC News, Vivianexplained her decision to speak out.

“I think he was under the assumption that I wasn’t going to say anything and I would just let this go unchallenged,” she said. “Which I’m not going to do, because if you’re going to lie about me, like, blatantly to an audience of millions, I’m not just gonna let that slide. … He was there, I want to say, maybe 10% of the time. That’s generous. He had half custody, and he fully was not there.”

Grimes, the mother of three of Musk’s children,posted on Xin support of Vivian, writing, “I love and am forever endlessly proud of Vivian.”

In August 2024, Vivian made several more scathing remarks about her father on Threads, calling him “pathetic” and a “serial adulterer.”

Griffin has mainly stayed out of the public eye but joined his father at an American Express event in Miami in May 2024. “That’s my eldest son, Griffin, who was with me at the event,” Musk wrote onXunder aphotoof the two.

Kai, Saxon and Damian

Wilson gave birth to triplet boys named Kai, Saxon and Damian in 2006, two years after having twins. She revealed in a2017 TedTalkthat they were also conceived via IVF, but she and Musk have not discussed the children themselves publicly.

In a 2023 biography on the tech mogul, titledElon Musk,author Walter Isaacson wrote about Damian, who he said became a vegetarian at age 8 to “decrease my carbon footprint.”

Isaacson also mentioned that Damian is a classical music prodigy who excelled in math and physics. Musk’s mom, Maye, even once told her son, “I think Damian is brighter than you.”

X Æ A-12

Though nicknamed “X,” Grimesbroke down his pronunciationin her Instagram comment section. “It’s just X, like the letter X,” she wrote. “Then A.I.,” she added. “Like how you said the letter A then I.”

But Musk explained the pronunciation differently, saying onThe Joe Rogan Experiencepodcast that “X” is spoken “like the letter” while “the ‘Æ’ is pronounced like ‘ash.’ "

While proudly stating that “A-12 was [his] contribution,” he said it was Grimes who “mostly came up with the name.” She even gave a thorough description of the meaning behind it on herX.

The boy later made headlines when hejoined his dadfor a tense meeting at X at the age of 2.

According toThe Washington Post, Musk brought X Æ A-Xii to X’s offices while meeting with Trust and Safety Office Yoel Roth in October 2022. The child was reportedly running around the building as Musk discussed the company’s future. X Æ A-Xii also made himself comfortable in the conference room, whichthe newspaper reported “was strewn with toys.”

In April 2023, X Æ A-Xiitagged along with his dad to the MMA Global Possible Conferencein Miami. The little boy was seen playing with Musk on stage, which the audience found heartwarming.

Four months later, Grimes opened up about her son’slove of spacecraft. “X knows a lot about rockets. It’s crazy,” she explained. “He knows more about rockets than me.”

She even admitted that she was worried about his “obsession with space” after SpaceX’s Starship rocket exploded after takeoff in April.

“When X saw Starship blow up, he had, like, a three-day PTSD meltdown,” the mom of two said. “Every hour, he was waking up and going, ‘Starship …’ and I had to rub his back.”

In February 2025, X Æ A-Xiiaccompanied his dad on a visit to the Oval Officeto witness PresidentDonald Trumpsign an executive order that gave the Department of Government Efficiency more power.

Grimes reacted to the news onX, writing that she wasn’t aware her son was there and that she had only found out from a user on the platform.

“He should not be in public like this,” the singer wrote. “I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

Strider and Azure

The papers reveal that in April 2022, Musk and Zilis asked a Texan county court to change their babies' names so they would “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.”

The parents revealedthe babies' names and sexesin September 2023, when they were 16 months old.

Exa Dark Sideræl

Exa refers to a supercomputing term, exaFLOPS, while Dark represents “the unknown.” She explained to the outlet, “People fear it but truly it’s the absence of photons. Dark matter is the beautiful mystery of our universe.”

The third part of Y’s full name, Sideræl, is pronounced “sigh-deer-ee-el,” according toVanity Fair.Grimes described the word as “a more elven” spelling ofsidereal,which she defined as “the true time of the universe, star time, deep space time, not our relative earth time.”

The second meaning of Sideræl is a nod to Grimes' favoriteLord of the Ringscharacter, Galadriel, who “chooses to abdicate the ring.”

In a separate comment, Grimes said: “She’s Y now, or “Why?” or just “?” (But the government won’t recognize that). curiosity, the eternal question, .. and such.”

In August 2023, Grimesdescribed her younger childas “a little engineer,” and said, “she likes industrial shipping. She’s very strange.”

Techno Mechanicus

“Tau is so amazing. He came out with eyes that could just see so deeply into your soul, with so much knowledge. He looks like a little Spock. He’s definitely a Vulcan,” Grimes told Isaacson in the biography.

“I wish I could show u how cute little Techno is but my priority rn is keeping my babies out of the public eye,” she wrote. “Plz respect that at this time.”

Arcadia

In June 2024, Muskconfirmed the arrivalof his third child with Zilis. Their daughter, Arcadia, was born on Feb. 28, 2024.

“Mommy loves you with all her heart,” Zilis wrote onXin honor of Arcadia’s first birthday in February 2025.

Seldon Lycurgus

“Discussed with Elon, we felt it was better to share directly about our wonderful and incredible son Seldon Lycurgus. Built like a juggernaut, with a solid heart of gold. Love him so much,” the mom of four wrote.

In February 2025, St. Clair posted an announcement toX, revealing that she and Musk welcomed a child together in September 2024.

“I intend to allow our child to grow in a normal and safe environment,” St. Clair continued. “For that reason, I ask that the media honor our child’s privacy, and refrain from invasive reporting.”
