Elton John Reveals the Special Role Lady Gaga Would Play in His Kids' Bedtime Routine When They Were Younger

Elton Johnis opening up about his kids' famous godmother.

“We sang them to bed. We read them stories every night, even when they couldn’t understand what we were saying. It was a ritual that we held them,” he said.

“Gaga, who’s their godmother, used to come and bathe them and sing them to bed,” John said of singerLady Gaga, 38.

This past week, John opened up about howhe wants to be remembered when he dies, which included a sweet nod to his two kids.

As he was honored asTIME’s Icon of the Year, the singer reflected on fatherhood and how his role as a dad is his most important one.

“On my gravestone, all I want it to say is, ‘He was a great dad,' ” John told the outlet while speaking alongside his husband.

The musician shared a similar sentiment when speaking withGood Morning America’sRobin Robertsin an interview on Dec. 11.

“My music speaks for itself,” he said. “My legacy is that I was a great husband and an even better father… The music, the career is fantastic.”

“It’s been mind-blowing, groundbreaking. But the most important thing to me in my life is making sure my children are happy, they have a wonderful life and that I was good to them. That’s all that counts,” he added.
