Since thefirst championship gamein 1967, the price of these primetime ad spots have continued to increase. The 2025 Super Bowl already made history when FOX announced that the going rate for 30 seconds of air time was $7 million. The network broke its own record when 10 of those spots went for over $8 million, perCNN.
“We still have a pretty robust football calendar yet to come, culminating in our broadcast of Super Bowl 59,” Fox Corp. CEOLachlan Murdochsaid in a November 2024 call with investors, according toSportico. He added, “Sorry to say, we are already sold out, and at record pricing.”
An expensive price tag is no surprise, considering the millions of viewers who tune into the game every year. While many of them are there to cheer on theKansas City Chiefsor thePhiladelphia Eagles, for some, the commercials are the main event.

2025 Super Bowl ads ranged from $7 million to over $8 million for a single, 30-second commercial, according to CNN. This price tag comes out to over $250,000 per second for the most expensive 30-second ads.
The million-dollar-plus price jump came after Murdoch confirmed in November that FOX was “sold out” of ad slots. Because some companies opted not to use their Super Bowl time, some high-demand spaces became available in January.
A few brands that have confirmed Super Bowl airtime include Pepsi,Coors Light, Anheuser-Busch InBev,Uber Eats, Squarespace,Coffee mateand Stellantis.

In addition to the cost of a Super Bowl ad slot, companies also have to shell out big bucks in production. In 2023,GOBankingRatesapproximated that Google and Amazon had tied for the title of the most expensive Super Bowl commercial ever made, with each company spending an estimated $16.8 million on their 2020 commercials.
Google’s ad, titled “Loretta,” opted for an emotional story with its 90-second commercial. It featured the voice of an 85-year-old man as he used Google Assistant to help him assemble his favorite memories of his late wife, Loretta.

A big part of the budget for these big-game ads is paying the talent. Many Super Bowl commercials feature cameos from A-list celebrities who take home anywhere from $5 million to $7 million for their televised endorsements, according toVariety.
CNNreported thatBen Affleckearned close to $10 million for his 2023Dunkin’ commercial, which aired during Super Bowl LVII. That investment seemingly paid off, as the company reportedly sold the most donuts it ever had the day after the commercial aired.
The hefty paycheck was due in part to Affleck’s creative involvement in the commercial — he assisted with the concept, his andMatt Damon’s production company produced it and Affleck directed the ad.
His deal with Dunkin' also included a donation from the coffee chain to Affleck’s nonprofit, the Eastern Congo Initiative, perEntertainment Tonight.
Two years later, Affleck is back at it for the 2025 Super Bowl withanother DunKings commercialwhich includes his brotherCasey AffleckandSuccessionactorJeremy Strong.
