Issa Rae Says She HasInsecureFans Asking Her to 'Reshoot' Series Finale 3 Years Later: 'People Are Really Mad' (Exclusive)

Issa Raeis aware that someInsecurefans are still unsatisfied with how the series ended.

When the acclaimed comedy concluded its five-season fun on HBO in December 2021, Rae’s leading character Issa Dee rekindled her romance with Lawrence Walker (Jay Ellis). Despite the pair finally being at peace in their relationship, for many, this decision to reconcile was controversial due to the on-again, off-again nature of their bond. This also came after Lawrence discovered he fathered a child with another woman, Condola Hayes (Christina Elmore), as he and Issa were potentially discussing their future together.

Nearly four years later, Rae, 40, tells PEOPLE she knows that “people are really mad about” how the series ended.

“People have told me to reshoot, which is crazy because they didn’t like the decision that Issa makes in the end,” the actress and business mogul shares while promoting her new Super Bowl ad withTurboTax.

“I get asked for season 6 a lot — even this morning [Thursday, Jan. 30]. I had to just post because I got hacked this morning. Unfortunately, I fell for whatever phishing scams and now can’t get into my account. And I don’t even use it. So if you see crazy tweets for me, just know it’s not me [and I said], ‘Somebody, please help’ on my Insta Story. ‘I got hacked on Twitter.’ And somebody was like, ‘I’ll help you if you give me three more seasons ofInsecure.'”

“So I’m like, y’all can’t even take me seriously,” she adds.

Rae has no plans to revisitInsecure, which followed the everyday experiences of modern-day Black women — and the awkwardness that sometimes comes with it.Yvonne Orji,Amanda Seales,Natasha RothwellandKendrick Sampsonwere also among the series stars.
