The Academy Award winner’s daughter, Corinne Foxx,issued a statement on Instagramon April 12, 2023, revealing that the actor was on the mend after facing a “medical complication.”
“Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers,” the statement read.
Jamie received a plethora of well wishes from family, friends and fans after the news of his health complication was made public.

On April 12, Jamie’s daughter, Corinne, shared an Instagram post written on behalf of the Foxx family that referred to a medical issue her father had experienced on April 11, and added that the actor was in good hands and was"already on his way to recovery."
A source told PEOPLE thatBack in Action’s setwas “shut down"the same day Corinne shared the news of Jamie’s health scare on April 12. Filming resumed on April 13 using a stand-in for Jamie on set, the source said. Other scheduling reconfigurations were made after the actor experienced a medical complication.

PEOPLE confirmed that Jamiewas still in a Georgia medical facilityon April 17, as he was still under medical observation. “They are running tests and still trying to figure out what exactly happened,” a source toldCNNof Jamie’s health scare.

Two doubles were also seen standing in for Jamie, one stunt double and a second individual who served as a photo double.

Kevin Hartappeared on an episode of theImpaulsivepodcast, where he spoke about the status of Foxx’s health. He expressed that his “love, synergy, energy” goes out to Foxx, as he is someone who is “needed” and “necessary.”
“I think the dope thing is thathe’s getting better in his situation, and everybody’s prayers, everybody’s love, energy, all that stuff is seen and felt,” Hart shared with hostsLogan Pauland Mike Majlak.
“I don’t know the details or the exact details as to what’s going on, but to my knowledge, there’s a lot of progression and a world of better,” he added. “I know that he knows that, and I know that he feels that because there’s been an outcry and outpour in his regard, and I can only hope that it continue.”
“Beat Shazamhas been an unscripted mainstay on the FOX schedule for six seasons and counting,” the network wrote in a post onInstagram.

At the John Ritter Foundation’s annual An Evening From the Heart fundraiser, Natasha Blasick — who worked with Foxx on a film titledAll-Star Weekend— toldEntertainment Tonightthat a friend of the actor’s recently told her that Foxx is"recovering.”
“I was texting him, and just yesterday I talked to his friend, who’s like really in touch with him. I was, like, really freaking out [with] all of the news that he’s getting worse,” Blasick told the outlet. “So I was texting [his friend], and he’s like, ‘No, no, no, he’s recovering.'”
“So just hearing that he was recovering made me feel so much better,” she continued, sharing that she is “just praying” for Foxx’s continued recovery.
“And my friend yesterday reached out to me, and she’s like, ‘Let’s pray together,’ " Blasick told the outlet. “I mean, it’s really crazy. All we have in this world is our health. Our life. So it’s very scary.”
A source in the actor’s circle shared with PEOPLE that they were told “Jamie is stable andnot in a life-threatening situationnow.”
“[Doctors]are doing more testsand want to be completely sure that he will be okay before allowing him to” leave the hospital, the insider said, adding that Foxx is being advised to “keep his stress level down,” when he is discharged.
The source told PEOPLE that the hospital is “the last place Jamie wants to be” despite his need for medical care.
“He has a lot of projects going on,” the insider added. “He gets things done; he is focused and astute. What happened to him medically is serious enough to keep him in the hospital.”
One week after a source in the actor’s circle told PEOPLE that they were told “Jamie is stable and not in a life-threatening situation now,” anumber of celebritiestook to social media to voice their thoughts and prayers for Foxx.

FOX announced on May 15 that Foxx and his daughter Corinne will host a new musical game show calledWe Are Family, marking the first new project that stars the actor since news of his health scare in early April. The series, similar toThe Masked Singer, is expected to debut in 2024.

Soon after, Foxx posted on Twitter for the first time in months. “Boat life 🦊,” he wrote. “Celebrating summer with @brownsugarbbn. Stay blessed.”
A source told PEOPLE the actor was “doing great” amid his recovery. “He is just taking it easy. He’s not really having any visitors or anything like that yet but he’s doing really really well,” the source said, following Foxx’s boat ride.
Jamie Foxx was seen at aTopgolf outingin Naperville, Illinois. A source told PEOPLE that the actor “was in good spirits and having a good time.”
The insider added that Foxx “looks healthy” and said he “didn’t need any physical assistance.”
Foxx isn’t fully healed, but a source told PEOPLE that the actorthrew a party at his rehab centerin Chicago to “celebrate being better.”
The insider added: “[Foxx] has been working really hard these last couple of months to get back to normal and has greatly improved since he first got to the facility. He is still doing some outpatient rehab.”
Foxx proved that he’s back in action when heshared a photo of himselfwearing a dark suit, sitting on a black and gold Formula 1 race car.
“Thankful for my @betmgm family and a great few nights in Vegas. We got BIG things coming soon,” he wrote inthe caption, referring to his campaign with BetMGM, a sports betting company.

Foxxopened up about his medical scarefor the first time in a video heshared on Instagram.
In the clip, he thanked fans for their prayers. “I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back,” the actor said of his fans' support.
“But I did go through … I went to hell and back,” added Foxx. “And my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back. And I’m able to work.”

On Instagram, Foxx gave his followers a health update — revealing that he’s “finally” turned a corner in his recovery.

Foxx underwent brain surgery at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. The doctor told the “Blame It” singer’s sister that he’d make a “full recovery but it’s going to be the worst year of his life.” Foxx was in a coma for 20 days and woke up unable to walk. He was sent to Chicago for rehab where he did work to recover mentally and physically.
“It’s about blessings. God blessed me with his talent. He blessed me with all this money and this fame. And when I forgot about God, he blessed me with a stroke,” he told the audience, fighting back tears.
