Jason Momoapounced like a wolf on hisnew DC Extended Universe role.
TheAquamanstar, 45, reached out with characteristic enthusiasm to directorJames Gunnupon hearing the news that Gunn and Peter Safran had become co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. According to Gunn, 58, Momoa’s text was as simple and to-the-point as it could be: “F—ing LOBO.”
“On the anniversary of Lobo, I can’t help but think of a text I received from Jason Momoa on the morning it was announced Peter & I were the heads of DC Studios – the day Jason & I first discussed him joining the DCU as Lobo,” wrote the filmmaker.
Of the upcomingSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, in which Momoa will return to the world of DC as Lobo, Gunn added, “I’ve loved watching Jason bring him to life & can’t wait to share that with all of you.”
The movie follows Gunn and Safran’s reboot of the DC Universe,Superman(in theaters July 11, 2025), starringDavid Corenswetas the Man of Steel andRachel Brosnahanas Lois Lane.

Momoa previously called Lobo “the perfect role,” as he shared in December, postinga screenshotto his Instagram of a 2023Fandango interviewabout playing the antihero. “If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a [f—] yeah,” continued that screenshotted quote. Announcing his casting, the actor captioned the post, “They called.”
