Old habits die hard for the cast ofBeverly Hills, 90210.
Nearly 25 years after the hit Fox series ended its 10-season run,Jason Priestley, 55, tells PEOPLE that he and his former costars are still in touch.
“I stay in contact with most of them pretty regularly,” theWild Cardsstar said. “None of us are afraid to reach out to our other castmates when we need something, or need their advice on something.”

But that special bond that Priestley shares withTori Spelling,Jennie Garth,Brian Austin Green,Ian Zieringand Gabrielle Carteris isn’t the only thing that has endured. According to the actor, the cast’s original dynamic remains as well.
“The funny thing for us, because we’re all middle-aged people now, is that we fall back into the same routines that we did when we were in our 20s,” Priestley explains. “And we all take the same sort of place on the hierarchy chart that we had back then. It’s pretty funny.”
So where does Priestley, who played idealistic teen heartthrob Brandon Walsh in the show, fall in that “hierarchy”?
“I was always kind of the level-headed voice of reason, trying to keep everyone together and on the same page,” he tells PEOPLE. “And I do, I fall right back into that.”

It’s safe to assume that dynamic will be on display next month, when Priestley, Green, Garth, Spelling,Zieringand Carterisreunite at 90s Con in Hartford, Conn.

Of course, these days, any reunion of the original90210cast is bound to feel incomplete, following the deaths ofLuke Perry in 2019andShannen Doherty last year. Last August, Priestley said that both ofhis former castmates’ deaths came as a shock.

“Luke’s passing away was totally a shock because there was nothing wrong with him. We were neighbors as well as friends and spent a lot of time together. We shared so much,” he told theMirrorof Perry’s death following a stroke.
And despite knowing that Doherty had been in treatment for cancer, Priestley said her death came as a surprise as well. “She fought it for so long and seemed like she was able to manage it … until she wasn’t, unfortunately,” he said. “Shannen was a force. And I feel very fortunate that in the last couple years, I got to spend quite a bit of time with her. I felt okay about her passing in so much as there was nothing left between us that was unsaid.”
