After fans of his wife, actressMelanie Lynskey, shared their enthusiastic reactions to photos of her at the2025Vanity FairOscars partyon March 2, several asked Ritter, 45, if he “can fight” and he didn’t hesitate to put his dukes up — and did so in his typically hilarious fashion.
On Sunday, March 2, an X usershareda snap of theYellowjacketsstar, 47, at the bash — where she wore a sparkling, strapless red gown and matching lip — and declared that it made their jaw drop. Responding to the post, several people echoed the sentiment — and dragged Ritter into the thirsting frenzy.

Several users who reposted the photo of theLast of Usstar jokingly challenged Ritter,writing, “Can jason ritter fight,” and even tagging his X account to ask directly.
And the fans’ requests for comment seemingly worked, with theMatlockactor sharing anX postearly the next morning that simply reads, “Yes I can fight.”
But some fans weren’t ready to back down just yet. Responding to his declaration with the same photo of Lynskey, one user wrote, “OKAY BUT CAN YOU????” — which received a resounding, all caps “YES” from the actor.

Another user, meanwhile, questioned Ritter’s ability to fight, citing his on-screen defeat in drama seriesRaising Dion.
Fans still weren’t convinced, with some writing things like “maybe if we all join forces” and “not if we team up.” Even the officialYellowjacketsaccount weighed in, writing “well he can’t fight us all right? 🤭” on author Evan Ross Katz’sInstagram postabout Ritter’s hilarious declaration.
The officialMatlockaccount also got in on the action, commenting, “We’re ready to defend our client @jason_ritter anytime, any place. ⚖️.”

Ritter and Lynskey, who have been together for over a decade,welcomed a daughterin 2018 and later said “I do” in 2020.
