Jennifer Lawrence Made These Dad Trends Look Cool — and We’re Copying Them ASAP

Neverin a million years did I think thatJennifer Lawrencewould be on the same page as my dad — but here we are.

Earlier this week, my dad pulled out a two-sizes-too-small flannel shirt that he excitedly told me was from the ’80s. I wasn’t really digging it, but then theNo Hard Feelingsactress pulled one out, making what was once “old” new and fresh again.

Unlike my dad’s old-school jeans, she modernized the ’fit with a pair of wide-leg sweatpants orsweater pantsfor as much comfort as possible. She also threw on a pair of chunky New Balance sneakers, which ironically my dad has also owned at one point or another, as many other dads probably have, too.

My dad claims flannels are warmer than other shirts, but it depends on the type you buy. This button-down from Amazon isn’t made of fleece and is on the thinner side, according to some customers. However, when layered,one shopper said, “It was very comfortable and warm, even in 20 degrees weather.”

It comes in a whopping 29 colors, though I must say this light blue looks like J.Law’s and is much more elevated than my father’s Western-looking brown one.

Lawrence has been aloose-fitting pants galfor a few years now. If it were me, I’d get this pair since they’re a darker color (I’m personally paranoid about things being see-through), and they’re liketrack pants’ more dressed-up big sister — they’re still relaxed but less sporty and casual.

While flannels are about to be cool again thanks to J.Law, I’ve been on to chunky sneakers for a few years now. The thick soles may look clunky, but they usually make for extra cushion and padding. My personal style is more menswear-inspired, so I like this streamlined pair, but I also like the polka dots on these530s at Anthropologie— and they’re the same price. Plus, Mindy Kaling justwore the brand.
