Jessica Alba Breaks Silence on Breakup from Cash Warren After 16 Years of Marriage: Time for 'a New Chapter'

TheTrigger Warningactress shared a message on Instagram Thursday, Jan. 16,writing, “I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years - both as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

“We are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family,” added Alba. “Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

Alba, 43, and Warren, 45, met in 2004 on the set ofFantastic Four. Theywed in May 2008, and theyhave three children: daughtersHonor, 16, andHaven, 13, and sonHayes, 7.

In a crypticmessage on New Year’s Eve, Alba wrote that her 2024 was “filled with connection, growth, adventures, laughter, peace, sisterhood, transformation, rebirth, joy and so much love.” Then, she and Warren put on a united front tocelebrate son Hayes’ 7th birthdayearlier in January.

TMZreported Jan. 9 that the two were separatedand nearing a divorce. A source then told PEOPLE, “No matter what’s going on right now, it seems they will remain close. If they’re filing for divorce,it’s not because of some hateful drama.” Another source revealed to PEOPLE on Jan. 15 thatAlba had retained a divorce lawyer.

She added at the time, “I’m proud of us for making it this far. There is no real set of rules or guidance that can ever prepare you for what it means to commit to another person and choose to be family.”

“Through thick and thin we have continually found our way back to each other and have chosen one another. Cheers to us, I love you,” Alba concluded.
