“We finally got the super 8 vintage film back from Chip’s surprise party in November—F I F T Y Y E A R S ! — what a life you’ve lived, what a night we had celebrating you,” Joanna captioned the post.

She continued to give Ramirez a shout out, saying she had asked him to write the song for her husband and he “whipped it up in like a day and put it on a vinyl for us so we can listen to it every morning when Chip wakes up.”
Joanna added, “I’m the luckiest girl in the world. How grateful I am to journey through this life with you @chipgaines. Here’s to 50 more!”
The two-minute video opens with Joanna taking a blindfold off Chip to reveal the surprise party and continues with glimpses into their night. The evening included a seated dinner with loved ones and live entertainment.
Clips from the party also show a dance floor set up.
“Hats off to fifty” read a blue sign among the decor, which featured an outdoor venue with a large tent covered in white string lights and trees. The indoor section had glass walls and matching lights.

The theme matched their signature Texan vibe with cutlery with wooden handles, black and white gingham napkins and plenty of cowboy hats.
Meanwhile, the folksy song featured inspiring lyrics about Chip, including, “When he first met my mama, her yard was just a pile of earth. He surprised her with a garden, poured his soul into the dirt,” before launching into the upbeat chorus, “I know you know his name! Chip Gaines!”

“I didn’t know that there’s a real obvious [explanation],” he said in anticipation of his Nov. 14 birthday. “I guess in my mind’s eye Peter Pan never turned 50. You know what I mean?”
“When you’ve got this Peter Pan syndrome, you’ve always evaluated yourself through a childlike lens. Then it’s just like, how does that sort of co-exist with a 50-year-old reality?” he continued. “I don’t know. I just feel sort of like conflicted.”
TheFixer Upperco-host made a donation of $50,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital on his special day and encouraged his followers to also donate.
“Halfway to one hundred and no looking back,” he wrote in anInstagram poston his birthday. “As I get older, more and more my heart leans toward what’s really important in life and asking myself the question, ‘What good can I do today?' "

He continued, “Well.. today happens to be my 50th birthday and I’ve only got one wish, and it’s for the incredible patients and families over at @stjude. I decided yesterday that for my 50th I’d like to do some good with a $50,000 donation and today I’m wondering how much more meaningful that number could get if we all jumped in and gave what we could.”

Joanna recently opened up inan exclusive interview with PEOPLEabout their family’s Christmas traditions.The two sharesons Drake, 19, Duke, 16, and Crew, 6, as well as daughters Ella, 18, and Emmie, 14.
While their traditions have changed as their children have gotten older, she recalled how something her husband “loved” to do as a kid has now become part of their routine at their Waco, Texas, farmhouse.
She added, “Chip loved that memory as a kid, so it’s something we’ve done at the farm every Christmas since the kids were young.”
