PresidentJoe Bidenand first ladyJill Bidenannounced that they became great-grandparents on Wednesday, Jan. 8, after their eldest granddaughterNaomi Bidenwelcomed her first child in a Los Angeles hospital.
The first couple spent about 40 minutes at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to see Naomi and her newborn.

“(we) voted,” Naomi wrote on top of the photo, adding an American flag and upside-down smiling face emoji.

Naomi married Peter, an attorney, in November 2022,exchanging vows in a private ceremony on the South Lawn of the White House. Naomi’s wedding was the first one held at the White House in nearly a decade — and the first-ever for a grandchild of a sitting president.
President Biden — who has five children and seven grandchildren — has long been open about the close bond he and his grandchildren share. He previously said on an episode of theSmartLesspodcast in 2022: “They’re crazy about me and I’m crazy about them. Every single day,I contact every one of my grandchildren.”
It seems the feeling is mutual, as just before he was inaugurated, Naomi toldToday’sJenna Bush Hagerabout her relationship with her “Pop.”
“We’ve grown up together,” she said. “He’s made sure that every single tradition, every holiday, we’re all together… I don’t think there’s been any decision, no matter how big or small, that we haven’t decided as a family.”
