John Mulaney Brought His 3-Year-Old Son toAll InBroadway Rehearsals — and Now He Loves Theater (Exclusive)

John Mulaney’sson is already ready to be a Broadway star.

The comedian, 42, spoke with PEOPLE at the opening of his new Broadway showALL IN: Comedy About Lovein New York City on Monday, Dec. 16, and opened up about how he’s been able to balance rehearsals with being a dad to his two kids,Malcolm, 3, and Méi, 3 months.

“My son’s been coming to a lot of rehearsals, so he’s heard The Bengsons and our amazing band warm up a lot and he really enjoys that,” Mulaney shared with PEOPLE. “He brought a ukulele yesterday.”

“He played along with the band,” the proud dad continued. “So he’s been here a lot. He loves the theater. He was standing on stage for a while and then said, ‘I love stage.’ "

Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE at the GQ Man of the Year party in November, Mulaney revealed thatMalcolmhassettled well into his big brother dutiesfollowing the arrival of his sister Méi June on Sept. 14.

“He’s doing good. He likes it. It’s interesting, with our daughter, she’s two months old so she doesn’t do much,” the comedian told PEOPLE about his family life with his wifeOlivia Munn.

“And I think the first couple of weeks he thought she might be a toy because she’d squeak and he’d be like, ‘How do I make it do that again?’ Now I think he gets it, that this is a little girl, yeah.”

Speaking about his family’s holiday traditions, Mulaney added, “Let’s see. Well, our son’s birthday is right around Thanksgiving, so we always do kind of a combined with the family in town ‘Malcolm birthday Thanksgiving,’ so we’ll do that again.”
