Kate Middletonsays that her sonPrince Louisimpressively kept a secret about herTogether at Christmascarol service from his sister,Princess Charlotte.
On Dec. 6, Princess Kate hosted her fourth annualTogether at Christmasconcert at Westminster Abbey in London, which welcomed 1,600 guests for an evening of entertainment and celebration around the themes oflove and empathy. While chatting with performer Paloma Faith behind the scenes, the Princess of Wales, 42, revealed that her youngest son Prince Louis, 6, honored her wish beforehand to keep the ballet performance in the service a secret from Princess Charlotte, “who loves her ballet dancing.”
“Ballet dancers?” Faith interjected, and Princess Kate said, “Ballet dancers, exactly.”

“So I said, ‘Louis, can you keep a secret? I want it to be a surprise for Charlotte, who loves her ballet dancing,’ and he said, ‘I won’t say anything!’. And he’s kept the secret, this is what, maybe two weeks? Quite good for a six-year-old!” Princess Kate said with a smile as she stood withTogether at Christmasperformers Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.
“And then this morning he was like, ‘Please Mummy can I tell her? I’m bursting!’, cause I did the drop off and he really wanted to tell her,” she continued, seemingly referencing herschool drop off routinewith her kidsPrince George, 11, Charlotte and Louis.
“I think, hopefully, he’s kept on with it. I don’t think he’s said anything,” the royal mom continued. “I asked her, just before we left, ‘Do you know what the surprise is? And she said no.”

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are known to share a tight bond, and the young princess was in for a treat when soloists from The Royal Ballet and students from The Royal Ballet School performed during theTogether at Christmascarol service on Dec. 6. Princess Kate andPrince Williamhave both spoken about their daughter’spassion for dancethrough the years, and Charlotte was even seen practicing third position at one point during the night in an image shared toX.
Princess Kate spearheaded theTogether at Christmascarol service with The Royal Foundation in 2021 as a way to thank those who gave back to their communities during the COVID pandemic, and it’s continued as a tradition ever since, becoming a staple on the royals’ annual calendar.
The latest iteration ofTogether at Christmaswas especially meaningful as it marked Princess Kate’s most major event since she shared on Sept. 9 that shecompleted chemotherapy. The Princess of Wales announced in March that she was undergoingtreatment for cancerand reduced her royal duties for most of the year to focus on her health.

In arare reflectionbehind the scenes that night, Princess Kate also said in conversation with Faith, “I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had.”
“The unplanned,” said the singer.
“The unplanned, exactly,” the Princess of Wales repeated with a nod. “But I think lots of people this year have had such challenging times, and many who are here today.”

Princess Kate may have been thinking of the families and survivors from Southport invited toTogether at Christmasthis year, underscoring support for the community grieving in the wake ofmass stabbingat aTaylor Swift-themed dance class in July, in which three children were killed and 10 others, including eight children, were injured.
In addition to the tradition of inviting individuals who gave back to their communities in outstanding ways, Kensington Palace announced that the carol service guests would also include some experienced difficult times this year.
