Katie Holmes Shouts Out the 'Lovely' N.Y.C. Starbucks Location That's Part of Her Broadway Ritual: 'They Know Me'

“They’re so lovely,” she said of the staff at the coffee spot. “Every time I go in, they know me and I know them, and they wish me a great show.”

She said she then heads straight to the stage to rehearse all of her lines twice, having already run through them “about three times at home.”

Explaining why her practice routine is so thorough, Holmes added, “One time I didn’t do it, and I was in the middle of a scene and I just said the whole line except the last word. I couldn’t remember it, and I made something up, but it didn’t make sense.”

TheDawson’s Creekalumfirst took the stagein the celebrated revival of Thornton Wilder’s famed play on Oct. 10 at the Barrymore Theatre in New York City. Her opening night was met withrave reviews, many of which praised Holmes' performance in the Pulitzer-prize winning play. The 28-person ensemble also includes actorsJim Parsons,Zoey Deutch,Ephraim SykesandRichard Thomas.

Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon’s latest production ofOur Townmarks the the first time Holmes has been back on the boards in over a decade, after last starring in 2012’sDead Accounts. She made her debut in the 2008 revival ofAll My Sons.

During her recent chat with Fallon, Holmes said she keeps up with her busy Broadway schedule — eight shows per week — thanks to her solid napping abiltiies. She shared that “early on” in her Broadway return, she scoped out the theater’s basement and found a couch that could accommodate her intermittent resting routine.

She’s a deep sleepe,r too; Holmes noted that she once accidentally napped during an ongoing meeting with her castmates.

“I get worried in between shows. That’s why I set the alarm, because the show could start, and I wouldn’t know,” she told Fallon.
