Keke Palmer Prefers to Go by Her Birth Name: 'I Would Love to Go Back to' It

Keke Palmeris eager to use her birth name again!

In a recently resurfaced clip from a 2022Glamourinterview, theOne of Them Daysactress admitted that she “would love to go to back to” her given name, Lauren, “more than anything.”

“[Keke] went from being just something that my family called me to being something that the whole world called me,” said Palmer, 31, at the time.

TheNopeactress explained that her manager at the time “heard my mom call me Keke ‘cause I wasn’t listening. So she was like, ‘Keke. Keke!’ "

Palmer is one of many celebrities whose stage name is different from their given name, includingWill Ferrell,Michael KeatonandEmma Stone.

“Then I freaked out a couple of years ago,” she told the outlet. “For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’ "

And aside from being a huge part of her daughter’s stage name, Palmer’s momSharongets her own moment to shine in the actress’ new movieOne of Them Days.

“It just made me so happy,” Palmer told PEOPLE earlier this month of Sharon’s appearance in the L.A.-set buddy comedy. “Mymom showed up and showed out. She was up in there telling the other landlord to put her door back on.” (Sharon is credited as “Irate Tenant” for her scene.)

“Make sure you look out for that sneak peek of Sharon Palmer, the original,” added the proud daughter.

Palmer also said that it makes her “so happy to share everything with my mom,” including the newIssa Rae-producedOne of them Days, costarringSZA.

“We’ve been partners since I was a kid,” the former child star raved of Sharon. “She’s taught me everything I know about my own dang-on brand. And I just appreciate her.”
