Kyla Pratt Reveals Unexpected Reason Method Man Made Her Cry onOne on OneSet  (Exclusive)

Kyla Prattrang in her 16th birthday in style.

Speaking to PEOPLE at the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills on Feb. 27, Pratt, 38, looked back on her time on the UPN sitcomOne on One, which she filmed when she was a teenager. Pratt revealed that she “absolutely” has rewatched the series since it ended in 2006.

“I loved watching it because it reminded me of what was going on while we were filming,” she explained. “Like theMethod Manepisode in the first year, where I threw a rave, that was filmed during my 16th birthday.” The episode, which aired during season two in 2002, features Pratt’s Breanna Barnes trying to raise enough money to buy a car. Her brilliant idea is to throw a rave, and Method Man, 53, appears as a guest star.

“I remember being on set and getting a big birthday cake,” Pratt said of the celebrations of her special day. “And Method Man was there, and we took all these pictures and I started crying.” Watching the series now, she said, makes her think of “the behind-the-scenes things that were going on.”

One on Onestarred Pratt and Flex Alexander, who played her dad. At the start of the show, Pratt’s character Breanna ends up living with her dad for the first time after her mom moves to Nova Scotia. The series, which also starredRobert Ri’chardand Sicily, ran for five seasons from 2001 to 2006. Real-life siblingsBrandy Norwood and Ray Jalso appeared on the series as brother and sister.

Pratt and herpartner Danny Kirkpatricksharetwo children, Lyric, 14, and Liyah, 11. Pratt said that both her kids are interested in the business and Lyric has done a “couple” of commercials.

As for her own career, Pratt — who appeared onseason three ofSpecial Forces— said there are “a lot of things” she’s looking to do in the future. She teased a biopic she’s interested in (without naming the person) and said, “I also want to be more into action, more into things that I have to physically train for or vocally train for.”

“I just like to be challenged,” Pratt said. “I like to have fun. And that’s fun for me.”
