Kyren Lacy, LSU Wide Receiver, Arrested on Charge of Negligent Homicide over Fatal Hit-and-Run Death of 78-Year-Old Man

Kyren Lacy is facing multiple charges after being arrested for the hit-and-run on Dec. 17 that killed a 78-year-old man.

On Sunday, Jan. 12, Louisiana State Policeconfirmedthat the former wide receiver at LSU and potential 2025 NFL draft pick, “met with Troopers and was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on charges related to the arrest warrant.”

Lacy, 24, was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle.

It was previously reported that authorities issued anarrest warrantfor Lacy on Jan. 10 on suspicion that he left the crash scene.

The 78-year-old man, who died from his injuries at the hospital, was identified as former marine Herman Hall of Thibodaux, LA.

The police added, “As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge.”

“Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger,” the release continued. “As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento.”

The victim of the crash had been a passenger in the Kia Sorrento.

“Troopers are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation to turn himself in,” officials stated, adding that the investigation was active and ongoing.

In a statementshared on X, Lacy’s agent said he was “fully cooperating with the authorities.”

“We strongly believe that the facts will ultimately demonstrate the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation,” wrote Rocky Arceneaux of Alliance Sports.
