Lizzo Channels Late Mentor Prince as She Searches for 'Love in Real Life' on First New Song in 2 Years

After a two-year hiatus from music, the Grammy winner released her new single “Love in Real Life” alongside a music video on Feb. 28 and revealed it’s the title track of her upcoming album.

“Tonight, I might make an appearance since I look this fine / And plus, it’s been a while,” she sings on the track. “Tonight, tequila, do your job, girl, help me change my mind / How many shots this time? (One, two, three, four).”

The song’s video finds Lizzo at the center of what feels like a movie musical, opening with the “Good as Hell” singer sitting at a vanity in a lavish hallway and looking at a mirror as she says, “Everything was so much simpler, and that’s exactly what I need. No views, no likes. Real love in real life.”

Next, a friend drives her to a nightclub full of people performing choreography to “Love in Real Life.” Something mysterious then starts happening to some of the dancers, who seem to become a bit monstrous, leading a scared Lizzo to run away.

The music soon pauses, and the dancers start to close in on her, before she closes her eyes and reopens them to perform with the creepy group of creatures. At the end of the clip, a car pulls up to the group as what sounds like a new song is teased over the speakers.

Alongside the release, Lizzo announced she’ll preview the upcomingLove in Real Lifealbum at three intimate North American concerts. She’s set to perform at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on March 12, Irving Plaza in New York City on March 16 and First Avenue in Minneapolis on March 18.
