A Missouri man has been arrested after handing himself in over the murder of his 75-year-old father, according to police.
Jeffrey Goedde, 41, arrived at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in Hillsboro at around 11:40 am on Wednesday, Dec. 18, where he allegedly told police, “I made a mistake. I committed a crime, and I want to turn myself in.”
He also added that he “may have used a kitchen knife” but couldn’t remember.

Manchester police noticed a strong smell of bleach when they approached the father and son’s home in the 100 block of Baxter Heights during a welfare check, according to the file.
A kitchen knife was then located in a trash can near the 75-year-old’s lifeless body in the kitchen as they searched the property.
Officials allege that Jeffrey Goedde then requested an attorney and refused to answer any further questions.

First Alert 4reported that Goedde is now being held at the St. Louis County jail without bond, having been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
He will face a preliminary hearing in court on Jan. 16, according toLaw & Crime.
