Melissa Gilbert Reacts to Megyn Kelly's Anti-WokeLittle House on the PrairieReboot Request: 'Watch Again'

Melissa Gilbertwill not stand for anyLittle House on the Prairieslander.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, the actress, 60, posted a statement in response to a tweet fromMegyn Kellyreacting to the news about theLittle Housereboot coming to Netflix— and Gilbert did not hold back in her defense of the show that made her famous.

“We tackled: racism, addiction, nativism, antisemitism, misogyny, rape, spousal abuse and every other ‘woke’ topic you can think of. Thank you very much.”

In the caption of the post, she encouraged Kelly, 54, to “watch any episode on any streaming platform anywhere in the world” of the original series, which ran from 1974 to 1983.

In Kelly’sposton X, she shared a link to a story fromThe Hollywood Reporterabout the Netflix reboot and directed her comment to the streamer: “If you wokeifyLittle House on the PrairieI will make it my singular mission to absolutely ruin your project.”

The Netflix reboot, which was announced on Jan. 29, of the 19th-century period western series comes more than 40 years after the original series came to an end in 1983.

The new show will be “part hopeful, family drama, part epic survival tale and part origin story of the American West,” per the streamer.

“This fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s iconic semi-autobiographicalLittle House books offers a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier.”

The BoysandVampire Diariesalum Rebecca Sonnenshine will serve as the showrunner and also executive produce alongside Joy Gorman Wettel, Trip Friendly, Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel.

“Little House on the Prairiehas captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story,” Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Vice President, Drama Series said in a press release. “Rebecca’s vision threads the needle with an emotional depth that will delight both new and existing fans of this beloved classic.”

The reboot news is particularly interesting givenKaren Grassle, who played Gilbert’s onscreen mom and husband toMichael Landonon the series, told PEOPLE in June of a potential reboot, “There have been lots of attempts to do aLittle House on the Prairieagain. There have been shows, there have been a musical, and I think we had a unique experience and it can’t be repeated.”

“I don’t think you get to repeat this,” she said. “This is it. And fortunately, it was television so they can just keep running it.”
