Michelle Buteau Says Her Husband Threw a Party When Lenny Kravitz Followed Her on Instagram — Then Got 'Worried' (Exclusive)

Michelle Buteau’s husband feared he had something to worry about after the comedian got a very famous follower on Instagram.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive debut for the trailer of Buteau’s new Netflix comedy special,Michelle Buteau: A Buteau-ful Mind at Radio City Music Hall, the comedian, 47, shares a story about her husbandGijs van der Most’s reaction to the moment thatLenny Kravitzfollowed her on social media.

“My husband threw me a party because we found out Lenny Kravitz was following me on Instagram,” she jokes in the clip.

“But then Lenny Kravitz kept liking my posts, and my husband was like, ‘Do I gotta worry about Lenny Kravitz?'” she continues, prompting laughs from the crowd. “I said, ‘Yes, you do.'”

Eagle-eyed social media users might notice that the rocker, 60, does still follow Buteau on Instagram.

Elsewhere in the trailer, Buteau teases some material about motherhood. She and van der Most share 5-year-oldtwins, Hazel and Otis.

“What I didn’t realize with twins, everybody wants to talk to you. I didn’t know that,” she tells the audience. “People walk up to me with, like, agency and purpose, and are like, ‘Are they twins?'”

“I’m like, ‘Are you a pediatrician?'” theBabesstar adds, to more laughs.

Buteau and van der Most, a photographer, wed in 2010 and welcomed their kids via surrogate in January 2019. The comedian has previously been candid about her journey to motherhood,telling PEOPLE in September 2020that van der Most was the first person to ask her to consider surrogacy.

“My husband said, ‘You know, I want you back. You are so unhappy and just physically wrecked,'” she shared. “I didn’t know anyone that did it. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about it. I just researched. I found an agency through my doctor where these women are just walking angels on Earth who find helping someone make their dreams come true the best thing ever.”

A Buteau-ful Mindis also a cause for celebration — Buteau’s comedy special marks the first time a first female comic has recorded a special at Radio City Music Hall.

In the trailer, she acknowledges the milestone, telling the crowd: “I might be the first woman to do a special on this stage, but I better not be the f—ing last!”

In one final bit, she speaks about comedy as her dream career.

“I wanna make millions and millions of dollars for making people feel safe, seen, secure, heard and entertained,” she finishes, to cheers. “That is my goal. My goal used to be to find my belly button when I sit down, but that s— ain’t realistic.”
