Madison, 25, shared in an interview withThe Hollywood Reporterpublished Wednesday, March 4, that following her surprisingBest Actress winat the2025 Oscars, there was one fellow nominee she had to reach out to.

After describing her win forAnoraas “surreal” on the Oscars stage, Madison said she textedThe Substancestar, whose performance in Coralie Fargeat’s body horror movie had set her as a front-runner at Sunday’s97th Academy Awards. Both actresses had collected wins throughout awards season for their memorable roles, such as Moore nabbing a 2025Critics Choice Awardand Madison winning at the 2025BAFTAs.

“I texted with Demi, who I adore,” Madison said. “She’s one of the sweetest, kindest women I’ve ever met, and I’m so grateful that I was able to meet her and witness her brilliance and talent in person. I adore her and I can’t wait to see what she does next, what kind of characters she brings us. I think we’re all so ready and excited to see that.”

The actress shared she also met up with and hugged Fernando Torres ofI’m Still Herefollowing the major upset. The first-time Oscar nominee and winner also beat outCynthia ErivoforWickedandKarla Sofía GascónforEmilia Pérez. Writer-director-editorSean Baker’sAnoratook home five total Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Moore, 62, also had kind words to share for Madison, taking toInstagramon Monday, March 3 to highlight moments from the awards ceremony. The footage included shots of Moore getting ready with her team anddog Pilaf.

“As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with gratitude for this journey,” she wrote in her caption, shouting out the “cast, crew, and fans” ofThe Substance, including writer-director Coralie Fargeat and costarMargaret Qualley. “So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience so full of joy and light.”

As for how Madison felt less than 24 hours after such an achievement, she explained it had not fully sunk in that she will now be known as “Oscar winner Mikey Madison.”

“I’m still kind of floating in a dreamlike state,” Madison admitted. “It was a very, very surreal night — very interesting and obviously, celebratory and wonderful. But I think that I need time to really digest the magnitude of it.”
