A groom-to-be and his mother are clashing over the choice of song for their mother-son dance at his upcoming wedding.

In aposton Reddit’s “Wedding Drama” forum, the groom, who is getting married in June 2025, described his predicament as “really silly,” but noted that he’s honestly “torn on how to handle it.”

However, the groom isn’t sold on the idea of having the Christmas song played during one of the most special moments of his formal wedding.

“There’s no room for compromise on her end and she’s hurt that I want a different song,” he said, before asking Reddit users, “Who’s in the right here? Any ideas on how to resolve this?”

“What a beautiful idea! It allows the mother to remember the tender moments of him as a child, but acknowledges that he’s now a grown man,” another Redditor added. “It’s a mature version of the child’s classic.”

Meanwhile, another commenter suggested the groom lean into the silliness of the song for his mom’s sake.

“I would use the song,” they wrote. “You obviously don’t care what song it is, you only are dragging your feet because you think it’s embarrassing. Yes, it’s your wedding, and it’s about you and your wife, and not about your mom, but it’s one small thing that will mean the world to her.
