One mom is opening up online about a frustrating recurring experience.
“It baffles me because why would you have a family restroom if single people are using it?” the mom says in the video. “Maybe they don’t understand how nice it is to have one of those, especially if you have more than one child with you or a stroller.”

“I waited another five minutes and then I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I cannot keep waiting,’ " she says in the video. “So I go into the regular bathroom. I have her outside of my stall because [her stroller] doesn’t fit in the stall with me.”
“I’m like, ‘Why is she out there? I need her to be close to me because other people are coming in and out,’ " she adds. “So I get her in, and then I proceed to clean up and change, and she’s freaking out the entire time. I think it took me 15 minutes, maybe 10 minutes. I finally am good.”
After leaving the bathroom, Kyle says she checked once more on the status of the family restroom, just out of curiosity. That’s when she realized someone was still in there. Once she heard them washing their hands, she decided to wait and see who came out.
To her surprise, a single Target employee emerged.
“She’s like, ‘Did you need to get in here?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I was waiting for a really long time, and I thought it was a family restroom,’ " Kyle recalls. “I started crying. I literally started crying.”

Not long after, Kyletook to TikTok againto share an update on the situation. In the video, she clarified that after the incident, she went to the store’s manager to ask about their restroom policy for employees.

During the conversation, she learned that there’s an employee restroom in the back, and that employees aren’t supposed to use the family restrooms. Afterward, she apologized. On her way out, another Target employee told Kyle that employees sometimes go into the family restroom to use their phones, as it offers more privacy than the employee restrooms.
“Again, I was not mad that someone was in there,” Kyle says. “I am not entitled to a restroom. I was just more upset that it was the sixth time an employee was coming out.”
“Then, upon further investigation, I found out that they’re really not supposed to use those,” she adds. “Then, finding out that they are taking advantage of the private space to take a break and play on their phones … There’s nothing wrong with taking breaks, but it was just a hard moment for me. It was very stressful, and I just wanted to be in a safe, private space in that moment.”
Target has not yet responded to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
