The jokes behind the camera are about to be shared!
On Tuesday, Jan. 7,Peacockreleasedthe first trailerforSNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, which features over 60 contributors reflecting on five decades ofSaturday Night Live.
The upcoming four-part docuseries is set to delve into the NBC sketch show’s rich history, while also sharing never-before-seen footage.
Tracy Morgan, who had several roles onSNLfrom 1996 to 2021, says in the trailer, “Anybody can do comedy. I could teach all of y’all in here to tell jokes and do comedy, but are you funny?" before clips of memorable sketches are shown.
WhenSNLdebuted in October 1975, it became the “biggest show ever," per the trailer, as “there was nothing like it.”

“It’s an American institution,” saysLarry Davidin the trailer.
Pete Davidsondescribes auditioning as “terrifying” as he joins several other celebrities confessing they were nervous when they started onSNL.
While reacting to old footage of herself hosting,Amy Poehlervisibly cringes before saying with a laugh, “Okay, that’s enough.”
Tina FeyandSeth Meyersare also among the long list of alumni set to appear in the docuseries, whileTom Hanks,Will Ferrell,Dana CarveyandKenan Thompson— the latter of whom is the longest-runningSNLcast member to date — are also among those featured in the teaser.
“This is beyond my wildest dreams that they’re making a documentary about the cowbell sketch,”Jimmy Fallonsays in the trailer, referring to a beloved skit that aired in 2000 with guest hostChristopher Walken.

Neville, 57, also previously said that he has “been obsessed withSaturday Night Liveas long as I can remember.”
