Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren Sing Bittersweet Duet About Love in New Music Video for Broadway'sThe Last Five Years

Filmed at the famed Jane’s Carousel in Brooklyn, New York on the edge of the Hudson River, the video captures Jonas and Warren as their characters fall in and out of love.

The Last Five Yearsfollows the demise of a relationship between a rising novelist named Jamie (Jonas, 32) and a struggling actress named Cathy (Warren, 37), across two different timelines. His perspective is told in chronological order from when the couple first got together, while hers is told in reverse, from the end of their marriage.

The limited-run production is currently set to play for just 14 weeks, through June 22.

Not only willThe Last Five Yearsmark a return to the boards for both Jonas and Warren — he, last in 2012’sHow to Succeed in Business Without Really Tryingand she, as a 2021 Tony winner for her portrayal ofTina TurnerinTina, based on the music icon’s life — it will also mark the first timeThe Last Five Yearshas ever been on Broadway.

That cast recording helpedThe Last Five Yearsbecome a favorite among the musical-theater crowd, with songs from the show — including “Nobody Needs to Know,” “Still Hurting,” “If I Didn’t Believe in You” and “The Next Ten Minutes” — becoming industry staples over the years.

An off-Broadway revival at New York City’s Second Stage Theater came in 2013, withAdam KantorandBetsy Wolfein the roles of Jamie and Cathy. Two years later, a movie adaptation was released starringJeremy JordanandAnna Kendrick.

But the the time is right for Broadway. In fact, when the production was first announced back in June 2024, it came almost exactly 25 years to the date after Brown wrote the first song forThe Last Five Years(June 15, 1999).

“I have always believed that when the time was right,The Last Five Yearswould make its way to Broadway,” Brown said in a statement at the time.

He added, “To have Nick and Adrienne taking on these roles is a composer’s dream come true, and to have Whitney’s extraordinary guidance and vision is the hope of every playwright. It has taken 25 years, but the time is right.”
