The 2025 SAG Award nominationscame with several snubs and surprises to shake up awards season.
SAG-AFTRA unveiled the nominees for the 31st annualScreen Actors Guild Awardson Wednesday, Jan. 8, an announcement that was muted due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
Canceling a live, in-person presentation, the nominations were instead shared in a press release, which acknowledged the “devastating” fires.
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted — the residents, first responders, and all those working tirelessly to protect the community,” SAG-AFTRA said in a statement, adding, “To support impacted members of our artist community,donations can be made to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, which operates a natural disaster relief fund.”
Kristen Bell will host the SAG Awards, which will stream live on Netflix on Sunday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. ET from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles.
Wickedearned the most nominations with five total, andShōgunled among television series with five nods. Read on for some of the biggest snubs and surprises from this year’s nominations.

Kidmanwon the best actress prize at the Venice Film Festival, earned a Golden Globes nomination, and was theNational Board of Review’s pick for best actressof the year.
The category instead shined a light on Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez),Mikey Madison (Anora) andDemi Moore (The Substance).
Kidman has 15 previous SAG Awards nominations, and she previously won for her work in the drama seriesBig Little Lies.

Jolie, 49, made her return to the big screen inMaria, portraying famed opera singer Maria Callas, but it wasn’t enough to land among the leading actress nominees. This award cycle, she already earned Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations for the performance.
The category’s nominees ended up being: Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez),Mikey Madison (Anora) andDemi Moore (The Substance).
The star has been nominated at the SAG Awards four times. She won for her supporting role inGirl, Interrupted,for which she went on to earn an Oscar statuette as well.

In 2023, Curtis, 66, won the SAG Award and Oscar forEverything Everywhere All at Once, and now she’s back in the supporting actress category forThe Last Showgirl. Her costar Pamela Anderson is recognized in the leading actress field too.
The star’s unrecognizable performance in the drama, set in Las Vegas, has gone mostly ignored during award season until now.

Bailey, 36, snuck into the supporting actor race at the SAG Awards for playing the singing-and-dancing Prince Fiyero in the hit musicalWicked. He’s also recognized as part of the nominated ensembles fromWickedandBridgerton.
Some projected potential nominees left out of the supporting category include Denzel Washington forGladiator IIand Guy Pearce forThe Brutalist.

Though Gomez, 32, is nominated as part of the ensemble casts ofEmilia PérezandOnly Murders in the Building, she was not recognized individually for her performances in the film and comedy series.
Gomez was a double nominee at the Golden Globes for the Spanish-language musical and the Hulu show, plus she won the best actress prize (jointly with costars Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón) at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. ForOnly Murders, Martin Short was the only cast member individually nominated.

Newcomer Koch, 28, earned a Golden Globe nomination for portraying Erik opposite Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Lyle, though he was left off here. The upcoming Emmy nominations later this year will be another chance for the cast to be recognized for the Netflix show.

Irish actress Coughlan, 37, scored a nod for leading season 3 of the popular Netflix period drama as Penelope Featherington, plus for the ensemble as a whole. She previously earned a nomination as part of the cast in 2021. Former cast member Regé-Jean Page previously earned a solo SAG nomination in 2021 as well.
