Ohio Man Allegedly Slammed Infant Who Wouldn’t Stop Crying on the Floor. 2 Weeks Later, She Died of Her Injuries

An Ohio man allegedly slammed a 15-month-old girl on the floor after she wouldn’t stop crying, fracturing her skull. Two weeks later, she died of her injuries.

As the last person with the toddler, Mayor was arrested and charged. He later admitted to police that he had injured the child when she wouldn’t stop crying while he was attempting to get her to nap, according to WHIO.

At that point, Mayor said he thought Gardner had fallen asleep, so he put her down on the bedroom floor and walked away, WHIO reported.

Two weeks later, on Dec. 19, Gardner died at the children’s hospital, the Montgomery County Coroners Office told WHIO.

The Montgomery County Coroners Office and Piqua Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. It is unclear if Mayor has legal representation to comment on his behalf.
