Olive Garden Is Bringing Back 2 Fan-Favorite Dishes After a 4-Year Hiatus

Olive Garden fans are in for a treat — and we’re not talking about their unlimited breadsticks.

On Mon. Dec. 2, the beloved Italian restaurant chain announced in an Instagram post that they are bringing back a few fan-favorite menu items after a four-year hiatus.

“Say hello to your new old favorites,” read the caption on the post, which showed a retro Olive Garden commercial displayed featuring two dishes: Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and Stuffed Chicken Marsala.

The Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo is made up of grilled sirloin, fettuccine alfredo, gorgonzola cheese and spinach, topped with balsamic vinegar and sun-dried tomatoes. Meanwhile, the Stuffed Chicken Marsala consists of grilled chicken breast stuffed with Italian cheeses and sun-dried tomatoes. It’s topped with a creamy marsala sauce and served with a side of mashed potatoes.

In a similar announcement post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the official Olive Garden account joked that the menu items “were on vacation in Italy, but they are finally back and better than ever. 😋.”

In reality, the Steak Gorgonzola Alfredo and Stuffed Chicken Marsala went on a four-year hiatus due to COVID-19. In December 2020, it was reported that Olive Garden’s fiscal second-quarter same-storesales had fallen19%. In addition to increasing their takeout options, the restaurant scaled back its menu to cut costs.

The returned menu items should already be available at Olive Garden locations, though it may take a while for in-person and online menus to reflect the change.

In November, the family-forward Italian chain was the center of a viral TikTok where one dinerfound numbers and lettersimprinted on the bottom of their breadsticks.

“Guys why is there letters on my olive garden breadstick,” the diner wrote on social media over an image of the half-eaten piece of bread.

One person, who claimed to be an Olive Garden employee, hypothesized that the writing came “from the plastic bag they come in,” though this was never verified.

Olive Garden sent the individual who shared the TikTok a $100 gift card and made a public statement on social media saying they “were concerned” about what the customer experienced.
