On Day CEO Brian Thompson Was Killed, His Minn. Home Was Subject of 'Hoax' Bomb Threat: Police

On the same day they informed UnitedHealthcare CEOBrian Thompson’sfamily of his murder in New York City, police in Maple Grove, Minn., also investigated a bomb scare at the slain executive’s home.

Hours later, Maple Grove police say that a bomb threat was received at around 7 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson’s residence. No suspicious devices or items were found. Police said the incident appears to have been a hoax and they are investigating.

A CAD report of the incident reveals that Maple Grove’s city attorney received the threat in an email. The email claimed that a pipe bomb had been dropped off.

A bomb squad was deployed to the location but did not find any explosives. Police interviewed several people at the scene, including family members, all of whom said they hadn’t seen anything suspicious.

TheWall Street Journalreported that Brian and Paulette Thompson had beenseparatedfor years before his murder and that the UnitedHealthcare CEO lived in a separate residence close to the home where his wife and two sons live.

Paulette spoke toNBC Newson Wednesday and said that prior to his death, Brian had been receiving threats.

“Yes, there had been some threats basically I don’t know, a lack of coverage? I don’t know details,” Paulette told the outlet. “I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him.”

The NYPD is still searching for the man who killed Thompson, who fled the scene on a bicycle. On Thursday, Dec. 4, the departmentreleased picturesof an unidentified “person of interest” wanted for questioning.
